Anja received her undergraduate degree in 2016 from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Psychology. Throughout her undergraduate career, Anja continued to battle with her passion for wanting to become a teacher.
She went on to receive her graduate degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Elmhurst University. While attending the program, she learned about Early Intervention and immediately fell in love!
Although she initially had a passion for the classroom, something about working in the home, meeting the family where they are and seeing the child in their natural environment resonated within.
Upon graduation, Anja moved to Indiana with her husband where she found a position as a behaviour therapist. However, there was a lingering itch to return to Early Intervention despite the distance from her home.
Anja has been working as a DT ever since. She has also served as a mentor to future DT's as well as sat on the committee for the Illinois Developmental Therapy Association (IDTA). Anja is married, and she has a 13-month-old little boy and a puppy!
Her philosophy as a therapist is rooted in family-centred practice and empowering the caregiver to be their child's biggest cheerleader and advocate. Anja enjoys connecting families, embedding therapy into daily routines and familiarizing families with community resources.
